Erik ten Hag has already lined up his first signings should he become successful in becoming the club’s next manager.

The Ajax boss has become the frontrunner for the job following a ‘positive’ interview with United chiefs last week, although Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino and Spain boss Luis Enrique have also been spoken to about the position and remain under consideration.

And Ten Hag could bring two players with him from Ajax should he be successful in becoming the next boss at Old Trafford. It comes as Gary Neville has slammed Ralf Rangnick’s “incredible” Marcus Rashford decision during the disappointing 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Leicester talking points

Manchester United delivered a lacklustre performance as Fred rescued a point in a 1-1 draw against Leicester at Old Trafford.

United lacked a cutting edge without star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed out because of illness, which caused problems for Bruno Fernandes.

The Red Devils fell behind just after the hour mark when Kelechi Iheanacho bent down to head beyond goalkeeper David de Gea before the hosts levelled within three minutes of going behind as Fred slotted in after Kasper Schmeichel had saved Bruno Fernandes’ low effort.

The game, which was full of talking points, also left question marks over United’s top-four hopes as they desperately try to salvage something positive out of their season.

Rangnick decision slammed

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has slammed Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick after Marcus Rashford was left on the bench for the crunch Premier League tie against Leicester City.

Rangnick was without his usual centre-forward option in Cristiano Ronaldo but the United interim manager decided to deploy Bruno Fernandes as a make-shift centre-forward for much of the match rather than playing Rashford in his natural position. And the decision did not go down well with club legend Neville, who was highly critical of the United line-up.

Neville said the decision was “quite incredible” considering Rashford will have been training with United over the last few weeks after failing to make the cut for the national team squad before the international break.

Ten Hag lines up first signings

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag wants to bring two players with him to Old Trafford should he be appointed Manchester United’s next manager.

The Dutchman has been interviewed over the vacancy at the club and could succeed Ralf Rangnick in the summer. And he reportedly wants to bring in Brazilian winger Antony and Dutch centre-half Jurrien Timber should he get the job with the two players impressing for Ten Hag at current club Ajax.
